Job summary

The Best Connection Group Limited is seeking an experienced Jig Borer to join our skilled machining team in Canterbury. The role focuses on producing high-precision components to tight tolerances, supporting both new and legacy tooling, and contributing to re-engineering and improvement projects.

You will set, operate, and maintain jig boring machines, read detailed drawings, and manufacture tooling and fixtures.

Qualifications

• Proven experience operating jig borers (manual and/or CNC).
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
• Competent with measuring equipment (micrometers, bore gauges, DTI, etc.).
• Time-served apprenticeship or equivalent experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Set, operate, and maintain jig boring machines to produce precision components.
• Work from detailed engineering drawings and specifications.
• Manufacture tooling, fixtures, jigs, and precision parts to tight tolerances.
• Support retooling and re-engineering projects.
• Carry out self-inspection using precision measuring equipment.
• Maintain high standards of quality, accuracy, and housekeeping.
• Collaborate with other machinists and engineers to meet customer requirements.

fully comprehensive subcontract machining and assembly service, including

retooling and re-engineering solutions for customers across a wide range of industries. Known for our precision, quality, and problem-solving approach, we support both one-off and small-to-medium batch work to exacting standards.

The Role

We are currently seeking an experienced Jig Borer to join our clients skilled machining team. This is a key role within the business, responsible for producing high-precision components to tight tolerances, supporting both new and legacy tooling, and contributing to re-engineering and improvement projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Set, operate, and maintain jig boring machines to produce precision components
• Work from detailed engineering drawings and specifications
• Manufacture tooling, fixtures, jigs, and precision parts to tight tolerances
• Support retooling and re-engineering projects
• Carry out self-inspection using precision measuring equipment
• Maintain high standards of quality, accuracy, and housekeeping
• Collaborate with other machinists and engineers to meet customer requirements

Requirements
