Job summary

Starling, the UK's leading digital bank, is seeking a highly motivated Software Engineer to join the Getting Paid & Open Banking team in Manchester. You will develop and maintain payments capabilities, integrate with third-party providers, and help scale robust systems in a fast-paced fintech environment.

We value clean code, automated testing, and continuous deployment, with a hybrid working model and plenty of opportunities to collaborate across product and engineering.

Qualifications

• 3–4 years of Java experience in a professional setting.
• Strong understanding of scalable, robust systems and clean coding practices.
• Experience with AWS and PostgreSQL is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain payments capabilities for the Getting Paid & Open Banking team.
• Integrate with third-party providers and external APIs to enable seamless payment workflows.
• Contribute to the design and delivery of robust, scalable backend services.
• Collaborate across product and engineering to ship features with quality and speed.
