Job summary

Global Payments is seeking a Software Engineer - Java to join the WPG team. You will design and develop Java-based payment solutions for a high-volume gateway, focusing on security, reliability, and scalability in a Linux environment.

You will collaborate with engineers in the UK and US, contribute to code reviews, and help drive best practices in agile delivery while supporting 24/7 operations and deployment cycles.

Qualifications

• Proven experience building secure, scalable Java-based distributed applications in Linux environments.
• Strong understanding of relational databases (Oracle) and SQL/DDL.
• Experience with large codebases and modern version control (Git/GitHub).
• Ability to design robust software for high-availability, 24/7 services.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop Java, SQL, and PLSQL solutions for ecommerce payments gateway as part of a team.
• Focus on robustness, security, and capacity for high-throughput processing.
• Collaborate with UK and US engineers and participate in code reviews and mentoring.
• Work across the full SDLC with release and deployment activities.
