Job summary

Capgemini is seeking a Java Full Stack Engineer (React + Java) in Glasgow, Scotland. You will work within Capgemini’s C&CA practice, delivering end-to-end digital solutions and contributing to scalable, secure architectures.

The role blends office, client site, and home work, with no 100% remote arrangement. You’ll collaborate across teams, apply AI-enabled development practices, and continuously evolve your engineering capabilities while focusing on performance, reliability, and user-centric

Qualifications

  • Strong foundation in full stack development with both front-end and back-end programming.
  • Experience designing and consuming APIs and asynchronous programming models.
  • Awareness of secure coding practices and performance optimisation techniques.

Job Role: Java Full Stack Engineer (React + Java)
Location: Glasgow, Scotland
About the Job you are considering

Join Capgemini’s C&CA practice within the FS Business Unit as a Java Full Stack Engineer, where you’ll help architect tomorrow by delivering seamless, end-to-end digital solutions. Working as part of a collaborative, forward-thinking team, you’ll continuously grow your capabilities, embrace AI-enabled development practices, and help shape a future‑ready engineering culture.

The places that you work from day to day will vary according to your role, your needs, and those of the business; it will be a blend of Company offices, client sites, and your home; noting that you will be unable to work at home 100% of the time.

Your Role
  • Deliver high-quality, end-to-end application features that enhance user experience and business outcomes
  • Contribute to building scalable, maintainable, and secure application architectures
  • Translate design concepts into intuitive and responsive user experiences
  • Collaborate effectively within cross-functional teams to deliver integrated solutions
  • Ensure applications meet performance, reliability, and usability expectations across environments
  • Apply best practices to produce clean, testable, and maintainable code
  • Actively participate in peer reviews, fostering a culture of continuous improvement
  • Diagnose and resolve issues to enhance system stability and performance
  • Contribute to design discussions and support the evolution of solution architecture
  • Continuously develop skills, including awareness of AI‑driven engineering practices, to support a future‑ready workforce
Your Skills:
  • Strong foundation in full stack development with both front-end and back-end programming
  • Solid experience in application development using object-oriented programming principles
  • Understanding of building and consuming APIs and asynchronous programming models
  • Knowledge of responsive design principles and cross‑platform compatibility
  • Familiarity with software engineering best practices including code quality, testing, and version control
  • Understanding of system design principles, backend architectures, and data handling
  • Experience working with relational data models and integrating external services
  • Awareness of secure coding practices and performance optimisation techniques
  • Ability to collaborate effectively and communicate technical concepts clearly
  • Experience with ReactJS, state management approaches, and component-based architectures
  • Experience with Java frameworks such as Spring Boot or Spring MVC
  • Exposure to testing frameworks and modern build tools
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and containerisation practices
  • Experience with cloud platforms and services, including serverless components
  • Knowledge of messaging or event‑driven architectures (e.g., pub/sub systems)
  • Familiarity with enterprise integration patterns and distributed system design
  • Exposure to development and collaboration tools such as Git‑based repositories and issue tracking systems
