Job summary

Envitia is seeking a Java Engineer to join our Security & Intelligence Consulting team. You’ll work on large-scale data and software platforms used within government and national security environments, designing secure, cloud-native applications that deliver actionable intelligence.

You’ll collaborate with data engineers, architects, DevOps and consultants to influence solution design, engineering decisions, and modern software delivery.

Qualifications

• Commercial experience developing Java applications using Java 11+ and Spring Boot.
• Strong understanding of software engineering principles and object-oriented design.
• Experience building APIs, microservices and distributed systems.
• Familiarity with containerisation technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
• Experience working within cloud or DevSecOps environments.
• Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Passion for solving complex technical problems and delivering high-quality software.
• Experience working with data-intensive applications or analytics platforms.
• Exposure to AWS, Azure or other cloud technologies.
• Experience within Defence, National Security, Government or other highly regulated environments.
• Knowledge of event-driven architectures, streaming technologies or AI/ML-enabled systems.

Responsibilities

• Designing and developing Java applications using modern engineering practices.
• Building scalable microservices and REST APIs.
• Developing cloud-native solutions using Docker and Kubernetes.
• Integrating software with data platforms, analytics systems and AI-enabled capabilities.
• Contributing to solution architecture, code reviews and technical decision-making.
• Supporting CI/CD pipelines, automated testing and DevSecOps practices.
• Working closely with clients and multidisciplinary delivery teams to solve complex technical challenges.
