Job summary

Michael Page Technology is recruiting a Java Engineer for a hybrid role in Central London. You will join a small team of 10 working on a brand new AI-focused product and take end-to-end ownership of key software projects.

You should have 2+ years of industry experience with Java, Linux, Apache, MongoDB and PostgreSQL, plus knowledge of AI prompt engineering. Experience on a broker platform is a plus. The role offers a discretionary bonus, stock grant, and hybrid working.

Qualifications

• 2+ years industry experience.
• Proficient in Java and Linux environments.
• Experience with Apache, MongoDB and PostgreSQL.
• Knowledge of AI prompt engineering or AI-assisted development (Claude, Cursor, etc.).
• Experience on a broker platform or similar financial domain is a strong plus.

Responsibilities

• Take end-to-end delivery ownership of key software development projects and enhancements.
• Design and build scalable, server-side Java services for core financial systems.
• Identify and implement improvements proactively.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to understand requirements, designs and deadlines.
• Review designs and code, providing constructive feedback.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather and analyse technical requirements.
• Implement efficient and scalable code to optimise system performance.
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues to ensure reliability.
• Participate in code reviews and share feedback with the team.
• Stay updated with Java developments and related technologies.
• Document code and processes to support knowledge sharing.
