Job summary

Ports North is seeking a Java Developer in London with a hybrid on-site model (3 days per week). You will build cloud-based financial services applications, collaborating with agile teams to deliver secure, scalable software.

The role emphasizes strong Java backend skills, Spring Boot, and experience with ETD clearing platforms. You will contribute to design reviews, CI/CD, and production readiness in a regulated environment.

Qualifications

• Proven experience building cloud-based applications in financial services.
• Strong Java backend development skills.
• Familiarity with ETD clearing platforms such as FIS CD Trade Clearing.
• Experience with Spring / Spring Boot.
• Experience with Test-Driven Development (TDD).

Responsibilities

• Analyze business requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
• Design, implement, and maintain cloud-enabled applications to support middle office processing.
• Provide technical expertise and recommendations for enhancements of existing applications.
• Develop clean, secure, and efficient code in Java and Python; work with scripting tools like PowerShell or Bash.
• Conduct code reviews, unit testing, and participate in architecture discussions.
• Ensure compliance with SDLC standards related to code management, inspection, and security best practices.
• Utilize GitLab and Terraform for CI/CD and infrastructure as code.
• Collaborate within agile teams to deliver fully integrated features from planning through deployment.
• Ensure production readiness by implementing operational controls and monitoring frameworks.
