We are supporting a leading technology consultancy that is hiring an experienced Java Consultant candidate for a hybrid fixed-term contract role. This opportunity is ideal for a strong Java Engineer, Java Developer, or Software Engineer with enterprise software development experience, especially within banking, financial services, payments, trading, regulatory reporting, or other complex regulated environments.

The successful Java Consultant will work on client-facing delivery projects, building scalable backend systems, cloud-native applications, REST APIs, and microservices using modern Java technologies.

Java Consultant Role Overview

As a Java Consultant, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and supporting enterprise-grade Java applications for complex client projects. You will work closely with engineering teams, architects, product owners, and client stakeholders to deliver secure, reliable, and scalable software solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Required Skills and Experience for this Role

• Strong commercial experience as a Java Developer, Java Engineer, Software Engineer, or Java Consultant.
• Hands-on experience with Java, Spring Boot, Spring Framework, Microservices, REST APIs, and Hibernate.
• Experience with Maven, Gradle, JUnit, Mockito, and TDD.
• Good knowledge of CI/CD, Docker, Kubernetes, and modern software delivery practices.
• Experience working in cloud or cloud-native environments.
• Previous experience in banking, fintech, payments, trading, financial services, or regulated enterprise environments.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Comfortable working in a consultancy-led or client-facing delivery environment.

Desirable Skills

• Experience with Java 8, Java 11, Java 17, or Java 21.
