Job summary

ARQ is a fast-growing fintech based in London seeking a Backend Engineer to design, develop and maintain scalable systems powering our innovative products. You will collaborate with a talented team to enable financial services that move value across borders.

You’ll work with Java/Spring Boot, PostgreSQL and REST APIs, building robust microservices with a focus on clean code, maintainability, TDD and CI/CD in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Demonstrable Backend development experience with Java and Spring Boot.
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in CS, Math, Physics or related field.
• Fast learner with strong communication skills in English.
• Track record of building complex products used at scale in hypergrowth startups.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain scalable backend systems.
• Build REST APIs and microservices powering key fintech features (payments, treasury, transactions, crypto liquidity).
• Operate with a pragmatic approach focusing on clean code, maintainability, TDD, DDD and CI/CD.
