Job summary

Mainspring Recovery is seeking a dependable Janitor to join our facilities team. You will perform routine cleaning, sanitizing, and maintenance across all areas to maintain a safe, welcoming environment for clients and staff.

This full-time, on-site role is 11:00am–7:30pm Sunday–Thursday, with occasional evenings or weekends for events. You’ll follow safety protocols, handle light groundskeeping, and report maintenance needs promptly to the Facilities Manager.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Able to lift, push, or pull up to 50 lbs.
• Experience in janitorial/custodial preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily cleaning and sanitizing of common areas, restrooms, offices, and therapy rooms.
• Sweep, mop, vacuum, and dust designated areas to maintain cleanliness.
• Restock restroom supplies and ensure handwashing stations are stocked.
• Remove trash/recyclables and dispose of them properly.
• Clean windows, mirrors, doors, and other glass surfaces as needed.
• Disinfect high-touch surfaces per safety protocols.
• Set up, break down, and clean spaces before/after meetings or events.
• Report maintenance or repair needs to Facilities Manager.
• Ensure cleaning equipment and supplies are stored safely.
• Follow safety guidelines and wear protective equipment as required.
• Assist with light groundskeeping and exterior entrances.
• Support emergency cleaning and prompt spill response.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

The Janitor plays a vital role in maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for our clients, staff, and visitors. This position is responsible for performing routine cleaning, sanitizing, and maintenance tasks across all areas of the facility, ensuring that our spaces reflect the care and professionalism of our mission-driven organization.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform daily cleaning and sanitizing of common areas, restrooms, offices, therapy rooms, kitchens, and other facility spaces.
• Sweep, mop, vacuum, and dust all designated areas to maintain cleanliness and appearance.
• Restock restroom supplies and ensure handwashing and sanitation stations are fully supplied.
• Remove trash and recyclables from designated areas and dispose of them properly.
• Clean windows, mirrors, doors, and other glass surfaces as needed.
• Disinfect high-touch surfaces regularly in accordance with infection control and safety protocols.
• Set up, break down, and clean spaces before and after meetings, groups, or special events.
• Report any maintenance or repair needs to the Facilities Manager promptly.
• Ensure all cleaning equipment and supplies are used and stored safely and properly.
• Follow all safety guidelines and use appropriate protective equipment while performing cleaning tasks.
• Assist with light groundskeeping duties, including sweeping walkways and maintaining exterior entrances.
• Support emergency cleaning needs and respond promptly to spills or accidents.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Education / Credentials

• High school diploma or equivalent.

Experience

• Previous janitorial, custodial, or housekeeping experience preferred but not required.

Knowledge / Skills

• Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 50 lbs. and perform physical tasks for extended periods.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness and safety.
• Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently or as part of a team.
• Willingness to follow cleaning schedules, safety protocols, and infection control procedures.

Working Conditions

• Full-time, may require occasional evening or weekend work for special events or facility needs.
• Full-time 11:00am-7:30pm Sunday-Thursday
• Primarily in-facility role with regular walking, bending, lifting, and repetitive motion.
• Exposure to cleaning chemicals and disinfectants (protective equipment provided).
