Job summary

NMS Recruit Ltd t/a Russell Taylor Group is recruiting an IVD Scientist to join an established laboratory team in Flintshire. You will contribute to diagnostic testing, assay development and the manufacture of IVD kits, performing hands-on work in a busy setting.

Qualifications

• A relevant scientific degree or equivalent laboratory experience.
• Practical laboratory experience in a scientific/diagnostic/biotech environment.
• Good understanding of lab procedures, QC and record-keeping.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow protocols.
• Organisational skills and ability to manage priorities.
• Confident communication and teamwork within a scientific group.
• Proactive problem-solving and willingness to learn new techniques.
• Experience with PCR, molecular biology or diagnostic testing is beneficial.

IVD Scientist, assay development

Location: Flintshire

Salary: £29,000 - £34,000 DOE

Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours per week

Working Arrangement: Fully site-based

We are exclusively recruiting for a Laboratory Scientist to join an established scientific team, where you will contribute to a range of laboratory operations, quality control activities and development projects. This role is ideal for someone who has exposure to IVD industry work post university who enjoys hands‑on laboratory work and is keen to broaden their technical experience.

The Role

As a Laboratory Scientist, you will support a variety of laboratory operations, including diagnostic testing, assay development and the manufacture of IVD kits. Responsibilities will include:

• Supporting kit manufacture, formulation and new assay development.
• Receiving and processing client samples and raw materials.
• Operating laboratory equipment, including PCR and capillary sequencing systems.
• Conducting quality control checks on incoming materials, in-process samples and finished products.
• Managing stability storage activities and preparing kits and samples for dispatch.
• Analysing data, preparing reports and maintaining accurate laboratory records in line with GDP standards.
• Maintaining laboratory cleanliness, equipment and health and safety standards.
• Taking ownership of assigned projects and providing training or supervisory support when required.

The Person

To be considered for this opportunity, you should have:

• A relevant scientific degree or equivalent laboratory experience.
• Practical laboratory experience within a scientific, diagnostic, biotechnology or related environment (Essential - they unfortunately can not take on graduate level for this role)
• A good understanding of laboratory procedures, quality control and accurate record‑keeping.
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow established protocols.
• Good organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and work to deadlines.
• Confident communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a wider scientific team.
• A proactive approach to problem‑solving and a willingness to learn new techniques and processes.
• Experience with PCR, molecular biology, diagnostic testing, assay development or laboratory manufacturing would be particularly beneficial.
