Job summary

Ringway Jacobs is seeking an enthusiastic Engineer to join the ITS team to provide design services for the Essex Highways contract. You will design and deliver ITS schemes including traffic signals, pedestrian crossings and CCTV installations, and prepare tender-ready specification documents.

You will work with clients, operations teams and the supply chain, perform feasibility studies, and ensure compliance with health, safety, and quality standards while supporting programme delivery and KPI

Qualifications

• Familiar with traffic signal control strategies (VA, UTC/SCOOT, MOVA).
• Ability to write controller configuration forms and ITS technical specifications.
• Ability to review ITS designs and third-party proposals.
• Knowledge of ITS standards and specifications.
• Knowledge of Health and Safety legislation including CDM Regulations.

Responsibilities

• Design and deliver ITS designs and specification documents for tender and construction.
• Answer and discuss technical questions related to ITS and Traffic Engineering.
• Engage with clients, operations teams, supply chain and external parties.
• Comply with Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality procedures in the Integrated Management Systems.
• Assist in the management and monitoring of works programmes.
• Take responsibility for own hours and assist in budgetary control and financial management.
• Help the team deliver on targets and KPIs.
• Support the Essex Highways team in delivering a Safer, Greener and Healthier place to live and work.

Job description

Ringway Jacobs are looking for an enthusiastic Engineer to join the ITS team to provide design services for the Essex Highways contract. The ITS Design team are responsible for the design and installation acceptance of new and refurbished traffic control solutions including pedestrian crossings, traffic signal junctions, CCTV installations and electronic driver messaging signs. Together with undertaking feasibility studies and checking and approval of third party ITS proposals across the County.

The Role

• Design and deliver ITS designs and specification documents in order that schemes can be tendered and constructed using our supply chain partners.
• Answer and discuss technical questions and proposals relating to ITS and Traffic Engineering.
• Engage with and resolve issues with clients, operations teams, colleagues, supply chain and external parties.
• Comply with and promote Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality procedures that form part of the company’s Integrated Management Systems.
• Assist in the management and monitoring of works programmes.
• Take responsibility for their own hours spent in the delivery of their projects and assist the team leader in the implementation of strong budgetary control and financial management.
• Help support the team in delivering on its targets and Key Performance Indicators.
• Support the Essex Highways team in delivering a Safer, Greener and Healthier place to live and work.

About You

• Have the ability to carry out ITS technical reviews of third-party designs and proposals.
• Have knowledge and experience of ITS standards and specifications.
