Job summary

Nextech is seeking an IT Systems Administrator to join our established IT consultancy in Northampton. You will provide IT support to internal staff and remote clients, manage patching and updates, and deploy new laptops.

The role covers Windows, Azure, and Hyper-V environments, with responsibility for AD/Entra ID and VPNs. You will work with a variety of Microsoft technologies, support client deployments, and keep technical documentation up to date.

Qualifications

• Experience with Microsoft 365, Windows Server and Azure.
• Proficient in Active Directory/Entra ID and device management.
• Familiarity with networking (DNS/DHCP/VPNs), firewalls and cloud backups.

Responsibilities

• Provide IT support to internal staff and remote clients.
• Manage patching and software updates across systems.
• Set up and deploy new laptops and computers.
• Support Microsoft 365 and user accounts.

IT Systems Administrator

Salary: £27,000 - £45,000 depending on experience

Location: Northampton

Type: Full-time, Permanent

We are working with an established IT consultancy specialising in Microsoft Dynamics ERP, supporting businesses with their IT systems and technology.

They are looking for an IT Systems Administrator to join the team and provide IT support to both internal users and remote clients.

The Role

Your main responsibilities will include:

• Providing IT support to internal staff and remote clients
• Managing and carrying out regular patching and software updates
• Setting up and deploying new laptops and computers
• Supporting Microsoft 365 and user accounts
• Supporting Windows, Windows Server and Azure
• Setting up and managing Hyper-V virtual machines
• Managing and monitoring cloud backup solutions
• Supporting firewalls, VPNs and network infrastructure
• Troubleshooting hardware, software and network issues
• Helping with client deployments and IT projects
• Keeping systems and technical documentation up to date

About You

We are open to candidates at different levels of experience.

This could suit someone working in IT Support who is looking to progress into Systems Administration, or an experienced Systems Administrator / Infrastructure Engineer looking for a varied role.

You should have experience with some of the following:

• Microsoft 365
• Windows / Windows Server
• Azure
• Active Directory / Entra ID
• Intune or similar device management tools
• Hyper-V or other virtualisation technologies
• Networking, including DNS, DHCP and VPNs

• Backup solutions

MSP experience would be beneficial, but candidates from an internal IT background will also be considered.
