Job summary

Pontoon is recruiting an IT Sourcing Manager / IT Procurement Manager for a major UK banking organisation on an initial six-month contract. Location options include Birmingham, Bristol, Chester, Belfast, Edinburgh, Halifax, Leeds, London or Manchester with hybrid working.

You will own end-to-end sourcing for software and SaaS, drive commercial negotiations, renewals and licensing, and partner with technology, legal, finance, and risk teams to deliver value while meeting governance requirements.

Qualifications

• Experience in IT sourcing, IT procurement or strategic technology procurement.
• Sourcing software, SaaS solutions, enterprise software licences or other IT technology services.
• Full sourcing lifecycle management including strategy, RFx, supplier evaluation, negotiations and award.
• Experience with software contract renewals and negotiating terms.
• Experience managing multi-million-pound renewals.
• Strong commercial and analytical skills; ability to challenge pricing.
• Excellent stakeholder management across technology, legal, finance and risk.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver independently.

Responsibilities

Day rate: Circa GBP682 per day (Inside IR35) or Annual Salary: Circa GBP70,929 - GBP101,000

About the role

We are seeking an experienced IT Sourcing Manager / IT Procurement Manager to join the IT sourcing function of a leading UK banking organisation on an initial six-month contract.

This role will focus primarily on software and Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) sourcing, enterprise software licensing, contract renewals and commercial negotiations. You will take ownership of end-to-end sourcing activities, working closely with technology and business stakeholders to develop sourcing strategies, manage supplier engagement and deliver commercially sound outcomes.

Candidate will be comfortable with IT Lead and support complex IT sourcing and commercial activity, working with Technology, business stakeholders and suppliers to deliver competitive, commercially robust outcomes within sourcing, risk and governance requirements

Essential experience and skills

• Experience in IT sourcing, IT procurement or strategic technology procurement.
• Proven experience sourcing software, SaaS solutions, enterprise software licences or other IT technology services.
• Demonstrable experience managing the full sourcing lifecycle, including sourcing strategy, RFP/RFQ, supplier evaluation, commercial negotiation and contract award.
• Strong experience managing software contract renewals and negotiating commercial terms with technology suppliers.
• Experience managing complex sourcing projects and contracts, including renewals in the multi-million-pound range.
• Strong commercial and analytical skills, including the ability to challenge supplier pricing and assess the value of commercial proposals.
• Excellent stakeholder management skills, with experience working across technology, legal, finance and risk functions.
• The ability to manage multiple priorities, plan ahead and deliver sourcing activities independently.

Strong communication and presentation skills, including the ability to explain commercial recommendations and their rationale to senior stakeholders

Key responsibilities

• Own and manage the end-to-end IT sourcing lifecycle, from initial business requirements and sourcing strategy through to supplier selection, negotiation, approvals and contract award.
• Lead sourcing activities for SaaS solutions, enterprise software, software licensing and legacy software agreements.
• Manage existing software contract renewals and new sourcing requirements.
• Develop and execute RFP/RFQ processes, evaluate supplier proposals and lead commercial negotiations.
• Challenge supplier pricing, assess commercial models and identify opportunities to improve value.
• Undertake pricing analysis, market benchmarking and total cost of ownership (TCO) assessments where appropriate.
• Work collaboratively with technology, legal, finance, risk and other business stakeholders to ensure sourcing decisions meet commercial and governance requirements.
• Prepare and present sourcing strategies, recommendations and commercial outcomes to senior stakeholders and executive audiences.
• Manage a pipeline of sourcing projects, ensuring activities, renewals, milestones and deadlines are planned and delivered effectively.
• Maintain a strong understanding of supplier proposals, contract terms and market competitiveness to support informed sourcing decisions.

Desirable experience

• Experience within financial services or another regulated organisation.
• Exposure to IT infrastructure sourcing alongside software procurement.
• Experience with total cost of ownership analysis, software licensing models and market benchmarking.
• Familiarity with enterprise sourcing tools, including Ivalua or similar platforms.
• Experience negotiating with large enterprise software suppliers.
