Job summary

SF Technology Partners is seeking an IT Solutions Engineer in Birmingham to own the internal technology estate, ensure secure, reliable systems, and enable teams to work efficiently. You will drive AI adoption across the organisation, automate processes, and identify practical opportunities to enhance productivity.

The role is hands-on and diverse, with responsibilities spanning Microsoft 365, SharePoint, Intune, and security controls.

Qualifications

• Experience managing IT in an SME or fast-growing business.
• Experience with Entra ID, Intune and endpoint security.
• Knowledge of networking, firewalls, Wi‑Fi and business infrastructure.
• Experience administering modern SaaS platforms.
• Genuine interest in AI and automation.
• Experience implementing new technologies and encouraging user adoption.
• Excellent communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Manage the Microsoft 365 environment including users, licensing, Exchange, Teams and tenant administration.
• Own SharePoint administration, permissions, document structure and retention policies.
• Manage joiner, mover and leaver processes.
• Support users with laptops, desktops, mobile devices and day-to-day IT issues.
• Manage Intune, device security and endpoint management.
• Maintain networking across office environments including Wi‑Fi, firewalls and connectivity.
• Manage cyber essentials controls and security best practices.
• Oversee backups, disaster recovery and business continuity.
• Manage suppliers, software licensing, hardware assets and IT budget.
• Identify where AI can deliver genuine business value across departments.
• Establish AI governance, security and data access policies.
• Train colleagues on AI tools and driving company-wide adoption.

IT Solutions Engineer is sought by an ambitious, high-growth AI start‑up based in the heart of Birmingham. As they move into hyper scale they are looking for someone who enjoys rolling up their sleeves, solving problems and helping a business embrace technology in smarter ways.

This is a unique opportunity for an experienced IT professional who is equally comfortable managing day‑to‑day IT operations as they are driving AI adoption across the organisation. You'll take ownership of their internal technology estate while identifying opportunities to automate processes, improve productivity and help our teams get the very best from modern AI tools.

The Role

As a IT Solutions Engineer you'll take ownership of the company's internal technology function, ensuring our people have secure, reliable systems that enable them to do their best work every day.

Alongside this, you will play a key role in identifying practical opportunities to introduce AI into business processes, automating repetitive tasks and helping every department become more productive through intelligent use of technology.

This is a genuinely hands‑on role where no two days are the same. You'll be trusted to identify problems, propose solutions and deliver meaningful improvements across the business.

This IT Solutions Engineer based near Birmingham will be responsible for:

• Managing the Microsoft 365 environment, including users, licensing, Exchange, Teams and tenant administration.

About You

You'll probably have:

• Several years' experience managing IT within an SME or fast‑growing business.
• Experience with Entra ID, Intune and endpoint security.
• Knowledge of networking, firewalls, Wi‑Fi and business infrastructure.
• Experience administering modern SaaS platforms.
• A genuine interest in AI and automation.
• Experience implementing new technologies and encouraging user adoption.
• Excellent communication skills with both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.

Experience with Microsoft Copilot, AI agents, workflow automation or low‑code platforms would be highly beneficial.

Personality

Most importantly they are looking for someone who doesn't need to know everything on day one.
