Job summary

Amber Employment Services Ltd. is partnering with an established organisation in Surrey to recruit an experienced IT Services & Operations Manager for a six-month temporary assignment. The role is full-time and office-based, with a 37.28-hour week and a £64K annual equivalent (FTE).

The successful candidate will lead an IT operations team, oversee system availability, manage incidents and drive improvements while coordinating with external suppliers and embracing new technologies.

Qualifications

• Significant experience in IT service delivery or IT operations management.
• Proven experience leading and developing IT support or operations teams.
• Strong knowledge of ITIL principles and IT service management practices.

IT Services & Operations Manager

Experienced IT Services & Operations Manager looking for your next opportunity?

We're working with an established organisation in Surrey that is looking for an experienced and proactive IT Services & Operations Manager to join its team on an initial six-month temporary assignment.

This is a varied and responsible position, ideally suited to someone who enjoys leading people, keeping essential IT services running smoothly and finding practical ways to improve service delivery.

• Full time, Monday to Friday - office based
• 6 month assignment (potential to extend)
• £64K FTE (37.28 per hour including holiday pay)

What will you be doing?

• Leading and supporting an IT operations team, including service desk and technical support functions.
• Overseeing the day-to-day performance and availability of IT systems and services.
• Managing incidents, service requests, technical issues and operational escalations.
• Monitoring service performance and identifying opportunities for continuous improvement.
• Managing relationships with external IT suppliers and service providers.
• Supporting the introduction of new systems and technology into live operations.
• Co‑ordinating IT changes, ensuring minimal disruption to users.
• Supporting business continuity, disaster recovery and operational risk management.
• Maintaining effective processes, documentation and knowledge sharing across the team.

What are we looking for?

• Significant experience in IT service delivery or IT operations management.
• Proven experience leading and developing IT support or operations teams.
• Strong knowledge of ITIL principles and IT service management practices.
• Broad technical understanding of Microsoft 365, cloud services, infrastructure, networks and business applications.
• Experience managing third-party suppliers, service-level agreements and service performance.
• Confidence handling major incidents, escalations and operational challenges.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
• A proactive, organised and solutions-focused approach.

The opportunity

This is an initial six-month temporary assignment, offering the opportunity to take on a varied and influential IT management role within an established organisation.

The position is office-based in the Woking/Addlestone area of Surrey, working 37 hours per week.
