Job summary

Standard Life plc seeks a Service Transition and Release Manager to join the IT Service Operations team. The role focuses on managing the transition of new applications and services into live environments, ensuring readiness, risks and impacts are understood.

You will work with development, operations and business units to plan transitions, coordinate releases, and implement process improvements while adhering to ITIL standards.

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of ITIL framework, particularly Service Transition and Release Management processes.
• Good understanding of Non‑Functional requirements (NFRs) and Test Environment Management (TEM).
• Understanding of DevOps and Agile practices.
• Demonstrable experience within a ITSM role with a focus on service transition, release management and service introduction.
• Proficient in tools like JIRA, ServiceNow, or similar.

Responsibilities

• Develop transition plans, risk assessments, and mitigation strategies; oversee end‑to‑end transition of IT services into operational use.
• Manage and/or oversee release cycles, including major, minor, and emergency releases; ensure quality through testing and validation.
• Engage with cross‑functional teams across development, operations and business units.
• Identify and drive continuous improvement in transition and release processes; implement automation where possible.
• Ensure governance and compliance with ITIL/ITSM standards and policies.
