Cranswick Country Foods, Staithes Road, Preston, Hull, HU12 8TB

About the Role:

We are seeking an IT Proximity Engineer to assist with the maintenance, reliability, and day-to-day support of IT systems across the business. Working with Group Service Desk, this role provides hands‑on technical support to ensure critical IT systems remain stable, secure, and aligned with business needs.

The position will involve supporting multiple sites located at Hull, all within proximity to each other. The successful candidate will provide on‑site and remote support across these locations, ensuring consistent IT service delivery.

The IT Proximity Engineer is responsible for supporting ongoing projects, resolving incidents, monitoring systems, and assisting with infrastructure activities. The role contributes to maintaining reliable IT operations while developing expertise in supporting end users and managing the Cranswick IT estate. This position requires strong communication skills, a proactive approach, and a commitment to continuous learning in a fast‑paced environment.

Who are Cranswick:

Cranswick is a leading UK food producer with revenue exceeding £2.9 billion. We provide premium food to major UK grocery retailers, the food service sector, and global customers. Operating from 22 well‑invested production facilities across the UK, our purpose is clear – to feed the nation with authentically made, sustainably produced food. This role is based at one of our flagship pork manufacturing sites, where recent investments have paved the way for cutting‑edge logistics and operational improvements.

What You’ll Be Doing:
  • Providing IT support to end users across Hull, working with the Group Service Desk to ensure business continuity
  • Troubleshooting and resolving day‑to‑day IT issues, escalating more complex problems to the Group Service Desk when needed
  • Carrying out and developing scheduled preventative tasks tailored to specific site needs
  • Supporting and maintaining IT equipment including desktops, laptops, mobile devices, and printers
  • Assisting with the setup, deployment, and roll‑out of IT hardware and software across the supported sites
  • Maintaining accurate records of IT assets, support requests, and resolutions
  • Providing guidance to local users on IT systems and best practices
  • Ensuring compliance with IT security policies and procedures
  • Working closely with the Group Service Desk and wider IT team on projects and continuous improvement activities
What We’re Looking For:
  • A strong interest in IT and technology, with a willingness to learn and develop within a business environment
  • Eagerness to grow within the business, with a proactive attitude towards developing new skills and embracing emerging technologies
  • Comfortable working hands‑on with IT hardware such as PCs, laptops, mobile devices, printers, and networking equipment (training will be provided where required)
  • Some basic understanding of IT principles – whether through education, personal projects, work experience, or self‑learning
  • Willingness to work in fast‑paced environments and provide IT support both in the office and on the factory floor
  • A team player who enjoys working alongside colleagues in IT, engineering, and production to solve problems and deliver practical solutions
  • Strong attention to detail, with the ability to follow technical instructions and maintain accurate records
  • Good verbal and written communication skills, able to engage with both technical and non‑technical stakeholders
  • Full UK driving licence, with flexibility to travel between the Hull sites
What We Offer:
  • Competitive salary – to be discussed at application / interview stage, including on‑call rate
  • Job stability at a growing and expanding company
  • Commitment to progression and development through internal and externally accredited training
  • Company pension scheme with enhanced contributions - matched up to 10%
  • Participation in our Share Save Scheme, offering discounted company share purchases
  • 28 days annual leave entitlement (inclusive of bank holidays)
  • New canteen providing fresh breakfast and lunch
  • Membership discounts at high street stores and supermarkets through our discount portal
