Job summary

KJL Group in Basildon, Essex, is seeking an IT Project Engineer to lead infrastructure, networking and cloud projects across client sites in the UK. Hybrid role after probation with travel as required.

You will collaborate with clients, deliver from design to implementation, and manage Microsoft 365, Azure, SharePoint, and virtualization environments.

Qualifications

• Strong technical background in IT infrastructure and project delivery.
• Hands-on experience with Microsoft 365 / Azure deployment and migrations.
• SharePoint setup & administrative exposure.
• Active Directory and Windows Server administration.
• Networking (TCP/IP, VPN, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, firewalls, switches, routers).
• Virtualisation technologies (VMware / Hyper-V).
• Backup and disaster recovery solutions.
• Excellent project management and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead and deliver a range of IT infrastructure and cloud projects.
• Work with clients to understand requirements and provide technical consultancy.
• Deploy, configure, and support M365, SharePoint, Azure, and Server environments.

We’re now looking for a skilled IT Project Engineer to join our projects team, driving forward the successful delivery of infrastructure, networking, and cloud projects.

What You’ll Do

• Lead and deliver a range of IT infrastructure and cloud projects from start to finish
• Work closely with clients to understand requirements, scope solutions, and provide technical consultancy
• Deploy, configure, and support Microsoft 365, SharePoint, Azure, and Server environments
• Implement networking solutions (LAN, WAN, Firewalls, Switches, VPNs)
• Manage virtualisation platforms (VMware, HyperV)
• Ensure project delivery is on time, within scope, and to the highest quality standards
• Collaborate with colleagues across support and engineering teams to provide smooth handovers

What You Bring

Strong technical background in IT infrastructure and project delivery

• Hands on experience with:

Microsoft 365 / Azure deployment and migrations

Sharepoint setup & administrative exposure

Active Directory and Windows Server administration

Networking (TCP/IP, VPN, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, firewalls, switches, routers)

Virtualisation technologies (VMware / Hyper-V)

Backup and disaster recovery solutions

• Excellent project management and communication skills
• Confidence in working directly with clients at all levels
• Desirable certifications: Microsoft, Cisco, Prince2, ITIL

Your Experience
You’ve successfully delivered IT projects in a client-facing role, ideally within a managed service provider (MSP) or similar fast-paced environment. You’re equally comfortable working independently or as part of a team and have a track record of delivering solutions that add real value to businesses.

• Hours: Mon–Fri 08:30–17:00
• Holiday: 22 days + bank holidays

Flexibility
This is offered as a hybrid role (after probation), you will spend time at our Basildon HQ, on client sites, and working remotely. No two days will be the same, and you’ll be trusted with the autonomy to make projects happen.
