Job summary

A Chelmsford-based IT Operations Manager role for a leading retail brand. You will lead the Infrastructure & Support team, oversee day-to-day IT operations, and drive improvements in infrastructure, cybersecurity and business resilience.

Reporting to the IT Director, you will balance operational priorities with longer-term planning, manage suppliers and budget planning, and ensure reliable, secure IT services across the organisation.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in IT infrastructure, operations or service delivery.
• Experience leading an IT team and coaching staff.
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft 365 and Windows environments.
• Solid cybersecurity understanding and disaster recovery.
• Ability to communicate clearly with technical and non-technical colleagues.

Responsibilities

• Lead the IT support function, ensuring incidents and requests are resolved efficiently.
• Manage and develop the Infrastructure & Support team.
• Oversee IT infrastructure including servers, networking, cloud services and endpoints.
• Strengthen cybersecurity, manage risks and maintain backup/disaster recovery.
• Plan and deliver infrastructure and security projects safely and effectively.
• Identify opportunities to improve reliability, service quality and cost-effectiveness.
• Manage external suppliers and technology procurement.
• Contribute to infrastructure strategy, budgets and long-term roadmap.
