Job Description:

IT Network & Telecommunications Administrator

Salary: £36,000 - £48,000 per annum (depending on experience)

Hours: Monday to Friday, 8.30am - 5.30pm (40 hour week)

Location: Southampton office based

Purpose of the Role

Responsible for managing technology efficiently using tools and scripting. Organizes, leads, and coordinates with other IT departments to ensure system components are well-managed.

  • Designs and develops complex, integrated solutions to meet business needs or improve Garmin’s network and telecommunications systems
  • Performs cost analyses and vendor comparisons for projects to ensure cost-effective operations, providing feasibility assessments and recommendations
  • Continuously develops expertise on current and emerging network & telecommunications technologies
  • Communicates effectively about system operations and environment changes
  • Adheres to SOX, PCI, and other regulatory standards
  • Maintains awareness of capacity, redundancy, and health of network & telecommunications systems
  • Ensures security requirements are met or exceeded
  • Uses standards and procedures proficiently
  • Communicates clearly in writing and verbally within teams or departments
  • Aligns work with Garmin’s Mission Statement and Quality Policy, showing enthusiasm for company success
  • Mentors less experienced IT Administrators
  • Provides reliable solutions through sound problem-solving, root cause analysis, and corrective actions
  • Plans and performs minor system upgrades
  • Uses scripting and tools for efficient management
  • Makes component improvement recommendations
  • Identifies system interdependencies
  • Coordinates cross-team non-project changes
  • Participates in system or application roadmap planning
  • Leads meetings with IT system users
  • Adapts well to change and welcomes feedback for improvement
  • Handles security access monitoring appropriately
Education & Experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, IT, MIS, Business, or related field, or 2 years relevant experience, or a combination thereof
  • Ability to solve moderately complex technical problems independently
  • Experience in successful technology solution implementation
  • Strong communication skills in small team settings
  • Effective work documentation and organization skills
  • Deep understanding of IT infrastructure, including Telephony: Avaya, SIP, Microsoft Teams Voice
