Job summary

Elitehire Solutions, a Birmingham-based M&E contractor, seeks an experienced IT Manager to own the company’s IT infrastructure, systems and security, working closely with Directors and the Senior Leadership Team. The role focuses on strategic technology improvement, governance of Procore and cloud platforms, and opportunities to advance automation and AI across the business.

The position is hands-on initially with scope to develop into Senior IT Manager or Head of IT & Digital as the company

Qualifications

• Hands-on IT support, systems administration, networking and cybersecurity experience.
• Ability to shape and implement a broader technology strategy.
• Experience with construction/contractor tech environments is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Oversee IT infrastructure and systems across the business.
• Own Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive and Intune administration.
• Govern Procore and manage multi-site networks (Ubiquiti/UniFi).
• Lead cybersecurity, MFA, Conditional Access and device compliance.
• Manage IT assets, licences and supplier relationships.
• Develop longer-term IT strategy with Directors; explore automation/AI opportunities.

IT Manager – M&E Contractor

Location: Fort Dunlop, Birmingham

Salary: £52,000 – £60,000 DOE

Job Type: Permanent, Full-Time

Elitehire Solutions are recruiting on behalf of a well-established and growing Mechanical & Electrical Contractor based at Fort Dunlop, Birmingham.

Our client is looking to appoint an experienced IT Manager to take ownership of the company’s IT infrastructure, systems, cybersecurity and wider technology strategy.

This is a newly important position within a growing, multi-site business of approximately 50 employees and would suit someone who is technically strong and hands‑on, but also wants the opportunity to shape and develop an internal IT function.

This is not simply an IT support/helpdesk position. You will work closely with the Directors and Senior Leadership Team, taking responsibility for the company's technology environment while identifying ways technology, automation and AI can improve the wider business.

Key Responsibilities

• Overall management of the company's IT infrastructure and systems
• Administration and technical ownership of Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive and Intune
• Senior administration and technical governance of Procore
• Management of multi-site Ubiquiti / UniFi networks, including Wi‑Fi, firewalls, VPNs and network security
• Responsibility for cybersecurity, MFA, Conditional Access, endpoint protection and device compliance
• Management of company laptops, mobiles, hardware and IT assets
• Management of CCTV and electronic access control through the UniFi environment
• Software licence, SaaS subscription and technology supplier management
• Managing user permissions and Joiner, Mover & Leaver processes
• Backup, disaster recovery and business continuity planning
• Supporting IT infrastructure requirements for new offices and project sites
• Reviewing IT expenditure, contracts and technology suppliers
• Identifying opportunities to improve processes through Power Automate, Power Apps, Power BI, Copilot and AI
• Developing longer-term IT strategy alongside the Directors

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for an experienced IT professional who combines strong technical ability with good commercial awareness.

You should be comfortable working across hands‑on IT support, systems administration, networking, cybersecurity and strategic technology improvement.

Experience with the following would be particularly beneficial:

• Microsoft 365 / Entra ID
• SharePoint, Teams and Intune
• Procore or similar construction/project management platforms
• Ubiquiti / UniFi
• Network infrastructure and cybersecurity
• SaaS and software licence management
• Power Platform / automation
• Cyber Essentials / Cyber Essentials Plus
• Multi‑site IT environments

Previous experience within construction, M&E, engineering or a similar project‑led environment would be advantageous, although strong candidates from other sectors will be considered.

Initially, the position will be highly hands‑on, but as the company continues to grow there is significant scope for the role to develop towards Senior IT Manager / Head of IT & Digital, potentially building an internal IT team beneath you.

Salary: £52,000 – £60,000 depending on experience
