The IT Infrastructure Manager is responsible for overseeing the organisation’s IT infrastructure, ensuring all systems, networks, and cloud services are running efficiently and securely. The role involves managing the day-to-day infrastructure, leading a team of technical experts, ensuring uptime and performance, and driving infrastructure projects. This position requires strong leadership skills, the ability to collaborate with other business and IT teams, and a commitment to delivering excellent service levels to the organisation.
What You'll Be Responsible For
Infrastructure Operations
- Manage the daily operations of IT infrastructure including servers, storage, networks, and cloud environments.
- Ensure uptime, availability and performance of IT systems through proactive monitoring and maintenance.
- Oversee disaster recovery and backup processes to ensure business continuity.
Team Leadership
- Lead, mentor and manage the Infrastructure team.
- Assign tasks, manage workloads and ensure team members meet performance expectations.
- Facilitate professional development and skills training for the team.
Process Management
- Implement and optimise ITIL-based processes for incident, problem and change management.
- Drive process improvements to increase operational efficiency and reduce incidents.
- Ensure service level agreements (SLAs) are met or exceeded.
Project Management
- Plan and manage infrastructure projects such as upgrades, migrations and deployments.
- Define project scope, timelines and budgets, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget.
- Coordinate with vendors and service providers for procurement and support.
Security & Compliance
- Collaborate with IT Compliance to ensure infrastructure is secure and compliant with industry regulations.
- Manage regular security audits, patch management and vulnerability assessments in accordance with the Vulnerability Management framework.
Stakeholder Management
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders across the organisation.
- Liaise with suppliers and service providers to ensure effective collaboration and service delivery.
- Act as the primary escalation point for infrastructure-related issues, ensuring timely resolutions.
Efficiency & Reporting
- Drive initiatives to improve operational efficiencies within the Infrastructure team.
- Prepare and present monthly reports on infrastructure performance, project status and service metrics to management.
What You'll Need
- 5+ years of experience in IT Infrastructure Management or similar roles.
- Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, or related field. OR equivalent experience.
- Proven experience leading and managing technical teams.
- Strong knowledge of networking, servers, storage, and virtualisation technologies.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS) and infrastructure monitoring tools.
Desirable certifications:
- ITIL V4 Foundation or higher.
- Project Management Professional (PMP)
- Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)
