Job summary

Proactive.IT Appointments Ltd. in the United Kingdom is seeking an experienced IT Infrastructure Engineer to own day-to-day IT operations across multiple distribution sites and depots.

The role requires stepping up for the IT Manager when they are away, ensuring business-critical systems run securely and efficiently. You will provide 1st-3rd line support and contribute to projects, automation, and disaster recovery.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience providing 1st-3rd line IT support and incident resolution.
• Advanced knowledge of Windows desktop, server and enterprise infrastructure.
• Strong Active Directory and identity and access management skills.
• Experience administering VMware virtualization and Citrix environments.
• Strong Cisco networking knowledge across LAN, WAN, wireless, switching and routing.
• Experience supporting SQL databases and enterprise applications.
• Knowledge of NetApp storage, backup solutions and disaster recovery.
• Understanding of cyber security, vulnerability management and IT compliance, including IT risk frameworks.
• PowerShell scripting and automation experience.
• Knowledge of ITIL-based service management, change, incident and asset management processes.
• Experience working in warehousing, logistics or an operational environment.
• Strong communication, stakeholder management and customer service skills.
• Proven track record of delivering infrastructure improvements, upgrades and migrations.
• Relevant IT qualifications or equivalent experience.

We're looking for an experienced IT Infrastructure Engineer to take ownership of day-to-day IT operations and infrastructure support across a network of distribution sites and depots.

A key part of the role is that the successful candidate must also be able to step up in the absence of the IT Manager if they are away from the business.

This is an excellent opportunity for a technically strong infrastructure professional who enjoys working in a fast-paced operational environment, keeping business-critical systems running securely and efficiently, and driving continuous improvement.

You'll provide 1st, 2nd and 3rd line support while helping maintain and enhance a broad range of infrastructure technologies, including networking, virtualisation, server infrastructure, storage and disaster recovery. You'll also have the opportunity to contribute to wider IT projects, develop automation solutions and deputise for the IT Manager when required.
