Job summary

Angus Council is recruiting an IT Engineer Housing to lead the design, planning, testing, implementation and ongoing support of the Council's core Housing application and related systems.

You will deliver development work packages, evaluate new system releases and drive digital transformation initiatives, working with Housing colleagues, software suppliers and IT professionals to maximise service delivery for tenants, customers and staff.

Qualifications

  • A relevant degree in IT, Information Systems or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
  • Strong knowledge of NEC Housing modules, toolsets and configuration options.
  • Experience of system integration, APIs, middleware and data exchange technologies.
  • Strong SQL skills and experience working with Housing data.
  • Experience delivering projects within structured project environments such as PRINCE2 and Agile.
  • Excellent problem-solving, organisational and stakeholder management skills.

This job is workstyle 5 - Hybrid+.

You will have the opportunity to benefit from our flexible and agile working practices. This means you will work from home for part of your week and spend some time in council buildings to best suit your work, meetings and collaboration.

Are you an experienced IT professional with knowledge of housing management systems and a passion for delivering digital transformation? We are seeking a skilled and motivated IT Engineer Housing to join our Applications team and play a key role in the development, enhancement and support of our core Housing systems.

This is an exciting opportunity to help shape the future of Housing services through technology. Working closely with Housing colleagues, software suppliers and IT professionals, you will lead the development, implementation and integration of solutions that improve services for tenants, customers and staff.

About the Role

As IT Engineer Housing, you will take a lead role in the design, planning, testing, implementation and support of the Council's core Housing application and associated systems. You will be responsible for delivering development work packages, evaluating new system releases, supporting digital transformation initiatives and ensuring services are delivered in line with recognised project and service management methodologies.

You'll work with a wide range of stakeholders, helping to identify opportunities for improvement and supporting the integration of third-party applications and mobile technologies to maximise business value and service delivery.

We are looking for someone who can combine strong technical expertise with excellent analytical and communication skills. You will ideally have:

  • A relevant degree in IT, Information Systems or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
  • Strong knowledge of NEC Housing modules, toolsets and configuration options.
  • Experience of system integration, APIs, middleware and data exchange technologies.
  • Strong SQL skills and experience working with Housing data.
  • Experience delivering projects within structured project environments such as PRINCE2 and Agile.
  • Excellent problem-solving, organisational and stakeholder management skills.
  • The ability to communicate technical information clearly to non-technical audiences and produce high-quality documentation.

You will be self-motivated, customer-focused and committed to identifying innovative solutions that improve services and business processes. You'll also have the ability to support and mentor colleagues while working collaboratively across teams.
