Job summary

Rise Technical Recruitment is assisting a prominent secondary school in Sutton to appoint an experienced Network Manager / IT Lead to own the IT transformation and future IT strategy. You will shape the network, modernise infrastructure and lead a small team to deliver reliable technology across teaching and administration.

The role is fully on‑site within a large school environment, requiring hands‑on technical work alongside strategic planning, collaboration with senior leaders, and oversight

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of networks, Microsoft 365, cloud systems and IT infrastructure.
• Balance hands‑on technical work with strategic planning.
• Experience in leading IT projects and teams would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the school's IT network and infrastructure
• Support the transition toward Microsoft 365 and cloud‑based systems
• Manage day‑to‑day IT operations, network issues and helpdesk support
• Work with senior leadership on IT strategy, budgets and future development
• Bring more IT expertise in‑house while working alongside external IT partners

• Support staff in getting the most out of technology to enhance teaching and learning

Are you an experienced Network Manager or IT professional looking for the chance to take ownership of a full IT transformation?

The school has already made strong progress with staff laptops, interactive classroom technology and Microsoft‑based systems, but they are now looking for the right person to take their network, cloud infrastructure and wider IT strategy to the next level.

The Role

• Lead and manage the school's IT network and infrastructure

The Person

• Experienced Network Manager, IT Manager, Infrastructure Engineer or similar
• Strong knowledge of networks, Microsoft 365, cloud systems and IT infrastructure
• Able to balance hands‑on technical work with strategic planning
• Confident supporting users and managing IT priorities across a busy organisation
• School or education experience would be desirable but is not essential
• Looking for a long‑term role where they can build, improve and take ownership
• Wants to make a real impact on staff, students and the future of IT provision in a school environment

The salary advertised is the bracket available for this position. The actual salary paid will be dependent on your level of experience, qualifications and skill set and will be decided by our client, the employer.
