Job summary

Ocho People is recruiting an IT Business Analyst for the Operational Resilience & Risk remit in Belfast. This hybrid role combines three days onsite with two days remote, within a regulated national infrastructure environment.

You will design, facilitate and deliver a comprehensive Business Continuity framework across every directorate, collaborating with senior leaders to map processes and define recovery objectives.

Qualifications

• 5+ years' IT business analysis or transformation experience
• Experience liaising with business end users across a large organisation

• Experience with Agile and Waterfall methodologies

Responsibilities

• Facilitate workshops with senior leaders, process owners and SMEs to gather and validate business continuity requirements
• Lead Business Impact Assessments to identify critical services, activities, operational impacts and recovery priorities
• Map critical business processes and dependencies across people, technology, facilities, suppliers and information
• Define and validate recovery time objectives, recovery point objectives and minimum service levels
• Identify resilience gaps, single points of failure and key risks, and propose improvements
• Translate outputs into clear Business Continuity Plans, procedures, maps and actions
• Align requirements with incident response, crisis management and service recovery arrangements
• Define plan ownership, roles, escalation routes and governance
• Run scenario-based exercises and capture lessons learned for improvements
• Translate wider business requirements into system requirements across Agile and Waterfall delivery

The Role

This is a rare opportunity to lead the design, facilitation and delivery of a comprehensive Business Continuity framework spanning every directorate of a critical infrastructure provider. Working closely with senior business leaders and subject matter experts, you will build Business Impact Assessments, map critical processes and dependencies, and translate that analysis into clear Business Continuity Plans aligned with existing crisis and incident management arrangements. You will also support wider process change initiatives and the development of requirements for new technology solutions, so this suits an experienced Business or Functional Analyst who is equally comfortable in a workshop with senior stakeholders as they are documenting a recovery plan.

Key Responsibilities

• Identify resilience gaps, single points of failure and key risks, and recommend opportunities to strengthen existing arrangements
• Translate workshop outputs into clear Business Continuity Plans, procedures, process maps and improvement actions
• Align business continuity requirements with existing incident response, crisis management and service recovery arrangements
• Define plan ownership, roles, responsibilities, escalation routes and governance arrangements
• Run scenario-based exercises, capture lessons learned and track improvement actions through to completion
• Support the translation of wider business requirements into system requirements across Agile and Waterfall delivery

What You'll Need

Essential:

• 5+ years' relevant IT business analysis or business transformation/change experience
• Previous experience liaising with business end users across a large organisation
• Experience supporting the translation of business requirements into system requirements
• Experience supporting a large IT implementation or transformation programme
• Experience of IT implementations using both Agile and Waterfall methodologies
• Experience supporting and developing a broad range of business applications
• Broad technical understanding of Agile methodologies, SDLC, IT infrastructure, databases, cloud computing, cybersecurity, data protection and IT governance

Desirable:

• Previous experience in business continuity, operational resilience, critical infrastructure, utilities or another regulated operational environment
• Knowledge of ISO 22301
