Job summary

Hiring People is seeking a Warehouse Operative in Manchester to securely process, test, repair, refurbish, and grade IT equipment for ITAD services. You will verify assets, perform data erasure, replace components, install OS and drivers, and prepare gear for resale or redeployment, while maintaining accurate records and following ISO-aligned procedures.

This role supports inventory control and continuous improvement in a compliant workshop environment with opportunities to develop hardware

Qualifications

• Experience with desktop and laptop hardware.
• Ability to follow documented procedures and maintain records.
• Good attention to detail and organisational skills.
• Able to work independently and in a team.

Responsibilities

• Receive and inspect incoming IT equipment.
• Verify assets against manifests and delivery docs.
• Record and update asset information in the asset management system.
• Identify and securely process all data-bearing devices.
• Perform certified data erasure using approved software and hardware.
• Verify data sanitisation and maintain audit records.
• Diagnose hardware faults on desktops, laptops and servers.
• Repair and upgrade equipment by replacing approved components.
• Install operating systems and required software.
• Carry out functional testing and grade equipment per criteria.
• Prepare refurbished equipment for resale, redeployment or customer return.
• Support inventory management and stock control.
