About the role

The Booker Group is seeking a Junior Software Developer to join our IT Development Team in Basingstoke. You will develop POS systems to support our Cash & Carry business.

The IT Development Team, comprising four developers, manages in-house POS software across Booker and Makro. This team collaborates with the IT Project Team to ensure all branch systems are effective, secure, and efficient.

You will be responsible for

Working with your team to develop high-quality products and solutions, demonstrating discipline, innovation, and a business-focused approach. You should be eager to learn new technologies, proficient in Java and SQL, and motivated to deliver IT solutions. You will also partner with stakeholders daily to align on goals.

You will need

• Good understanding of Java and SQL.
• Knowledge of retail is advantageous but not essential.
• Experience in software development, testing, change management, or support.
• Consistent results delivery.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.
• Strong communication skills, with a positive attitude.
