Job summary

Kuehne+Nagel UK is seeking an experienced IS Solutions Manager to translate business needs into secure, scalable technology solutions across Contract Logistics and Government & Defence. Qualifications

• Significant experience in solutions architecture within a complex business environment.
• Ability to translate requirements into secure, scalable technology solutions.
• Strong knowledge of APIs, enterprise systems and integration patterns.
• Experience developing business cases, cost models and presenting to senior stakeholders.
• Awareness of cybersecurity, data privacy, business continuity and service management.
• Commercial acumen with supplier management, licensing and contracts.

Responsibilities

Following an exciting internal move, we are looking for an experienced and forward-thinking IS Solutions Manager to join our team. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in shaping and delivering technology solutions that support the continued growth and success of Kuehne+Nagel UK Contract Logistics and Government & Defence.

Working closely with business stakeholders, UK and Global IS teams, and third-party partners, you will translate business requirements into secure, resilient and commercially effective solutions that create real value. From initial discovery and solution design through to implementation, adoption and benefits review, you will provide guidance and oversight throughout the entire lifecycle.

As well as managing and developing a talented team, you will influence decision-making across multiple functions, champion continuous improvement, and help drive innovation across our application and service portfolio. How you create impact

• Lead solution discovery, translating business and customer requirements into clear technical and functional solutions.
• Own the full solution lifecycle from concept and design through implementation, adoption and benefits realisation.
• Develop and assure solution designs, costings and implementation approaches to support growth, tenders and improvement initiatives.
• Ensure solution compliance with business strategy, architecture standards, governance requirements and best practices.
• Embed security, resilience, business continuity, data protection and risk management into all solution designs.
• Maintain oversight of the application and service portfolio, identifying optimisation, lifecycle and cost-efficiency opportunities.
• Collaborate with business leaders, suppliers and IS teams to prioritise demand, manage stakeholders and drive successful outcomes.
• Provide expert guidance on technology, suppliers, investments and emerging innovations to support business growth and operational excellence.

What we would like you to bring

• Significant experience in solutions architecture, solution design or a senior IS role within a complex business environment.
• Proven ability to translate business and operational requirements into secure, resilient and scalable technology solutions.
• Strong understanding of application, data, integration and infrastructure architecture, including APIs and enterprise systems.
• Experience developing business cases, solution proposals, cost models and presenting recommendations to senior stakeholders and customers.
• Sound knowledge of cybersecurity, data privacy, business continuity, disaster recovery and service management principles.
• Commercially minded, with experience in supplier management, licensing, contracts, total cost of ownership and vendor performance.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement, communication and influencing skills, with the ability to simplify complex technical concepts for diverse audiences.
• Analytical, collaborative and improvement-focused, with the ability to balance priorities, drive decisions and identify opportunities for innovation and business value.
• Desirable: Experience within logistics, warehousing, transport or Government & Defence environments, alongside relevant professional qualifications or certifications in architecture, information systems, security, service management or cloud technologies.
