Job summary

Northumberland County Council is seeking an Employment Support Specialist to deliver the Connect to Work programme across the county. You will apply the IPS model to help residents with barriers into meaningful employment, meeting people where they are in community and partner settings.

The role involves outreach, collaboration with NHS, DWP and voluntary sector partners, and providing tailored in-work support to move clients into lasting jobs.

Qualifications

• Experience in employability, community engagement, or health/social care.
• Strong interpersonal, organisational, and IT skills.
• Ability to work autonomously across agencies and manage referrals.
• Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
• Knowledge of local employment services is desirable.
• Role focuses on integrated employment and wellbeing support for Northumberland.

Responsibilities

• Manage a small caseload with IPS-based, person-centred support.
• Deliver outreach across Northumberland in community and workplace settings.
• Engage with employers to secure suitable roles and provide in-work support.
• Collaborate with NHS, DWP, housing providers and voluntary sector partners.
• Support residents with profiling, action planning and service integration.
