Job summary

Northumberland County Council is seeking an Employment Support Specialist to work on the Connect to Work programme across Northumberland, helping residents with health conditions, disabilities, or complex barriers into meaningful employment.

You will meet clients in community partner settings, employer sites, GP surgeries and job centres, delivering tailored, in-work support and coordinating with partners to move people into sustainable jobs.

Qualifications

• Experience in employability, community engagement, or health/social care.
• Ability to work across community and partner settings.
• Strong interpersonal and IT skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage a small caseload with person-centred support.
• Deliver outreach across community settings and job centres.
• Engage with employers to secure suitable roles.
• Collaborate with NHS, DWP, housing providers and voluntary sector partners.
• Support residents through vocational profiling and action planning.
• Leverage IPS Fidelity model in practice.
• Work autonomously across agencies with complex referrals.
• Hold a Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
• Knowledge of local services and employment challenges is desirable.
• Shape integrated employment and wellbeing support across Northumberland.
