LYVA Labs is a pre-seed investor, innovation commercialisation consultancy and grant-writing support provider.Our investment activity is currently focused on Health & Life Sciences, Climate Tech with a Health impact and Deeptech sectors.
Our mission is to increase investment in innovation in the Liverpool City Region and we do this by:
To date we have invested £1.7m equity into a portfolio of 20 companies.We anticipate making 45-50 investments in total.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Working under a Head of Investment and alongside another Investment Manager, your responsibilities will include:
·Generating investment pipeline
·Undertaking due diligence on investment opportunities
·Writing and submitting new investment proposals to the Investment Committee
·Working with our legal advisors on the execution of the legal documents associated with investments
·Support the Head of Investment in monitoring investments by attending portfolio company board meetings as an observer and reporting on performance against agreed milestones
·Pipeline and portfolio monitoring reporting to the Board, the Investment Committee and Liverpool City Region Combined Authority.
Skills, personality and experience – essential
·Previous experience as an Investment Manager in VC – we are seeking a candidate that can work without close supervision
·Competent in writing investment proposals for new investment opportunities and presenting these to Investment Committee
·Previous experience in managing the full due diligence process including execution of commercial, financial, legal and management team due diligence
·A good knowledge of VC investment legal documents and investment instruments
·Previous experience of negotiating investment terms with founder teams
·Commercially astute – an awareness of routes to market for early-stage product-based companies
·Intellectual Property knowledge – an understanding of IP strategy, patent protection and ability to perform desktop due diligence on competitor patents and high level freedom to operate searches.
·Strong financial and analytical skills – ability to read and interpret profit and loss, cashflow and balance sheet information and review financial forecasts.
·Excellent Excel skills
·Excellent writing skills and organisational skills
·Prior experience with/within early-stage SMEs
·Ability to quickly understand new scientific technologies and concepts
·Ability to liaise with internal and external stakeholders
·Excellent communication, people and leadership skills

·Science background with good knowledge of one or more of Health and Life Sciences and/or deeptech
Package
Terms: Full time and part time considered
Location: Liverpool City Centre, Knowledge Quarter
Salary: Circa £60k FTE for the right candidate
Holidays: 25 days plus bank holidays (pro rata), increasing to 27 days after 3 years’ service
