Job summary

British International Investment (BII) in London is hiring an Associate to join the Financial Services Debt team. You will analyse new investment propositions, perform credit analysis, build financial models, and support due diligence and deal execution across banks, microfinance, and fintech clients.

The role involves preparing monitoring papers, liaising with transaction support teams, and travelling to assignments in Africa or other regions as required.

Qualifications

• University degree in Finance, Economics, Corporate Finance, or Accounting.
• Strong English written and spoken ability is essential; French language fluency is desirable.
• Experience in a Development Finance Institution or banking/investment environment is desirable.
• Experience in Francophone Africa would be highly desirable.
• Demonstrated alignment with BII's mission and high performance standards.
• Analytical and research skills; capable of analysing FI reports and macro data.
• Credit analysis and financial modelling with Excel; PowerPoint presentations.

Responsibilities

• Analysing new investment propositions, preparing screening and credit proposals including financial analysis and modelling.
• Completing due diligence tasks such as company, industry and economic analysis.
• Supporting senior team members on debt proposals; building financial models and stress tests as needed.
• Drafting sections of investment proposals and monitoring papers.
• Supporting portfolio monitoring, covenants review, and waiver preparation.
• Updating deal and portfolio management systems; travel for assignments as required.
