Job summary

Veritas Education is recruiting a KS2 Intervention Teacher for a Barnoldswick primary school. You will support Year 5 and Year 6 pupils with targeted English and maths interventions, delivering small-group and one-to-one sessions.

You will work with class teachers, the SENDCo and senior leaders to identify gaps and monitor progress, helping pupils flourish and confidence grow. Commitment to safeguarding and ongoing professional development is expected, with a supportive school culture designed

Qualifications

  • Holds QTS and current teaching status.
  • Experience teaching Year 5/6 and KS2 assessments.
  • Able to deliver targeted English and mathematics interventions.
  • Committed to improving pupil attainment.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality intervention sessions for Year 5 and Year 6.
  • Collaborate with class teachers, SENDCo and senior leaders to plan and monitor progress.
  • Use assessment data to tailor intervention programmes and close gaps.
  • Support pupils' transition to secondary school.

Veritas Education are delighted to be working in partnership with a caring, ambitious and community-focused primary school in Barnoldswick to recruit a passionate, dedicated and nurturing KS2 Intervention Teacher to join their team from September 2026.

This is an exciting opportunity for a teacher who believes every child deserves the opportunity to flourish, regardless of the barriers they may face. Working with Year 5 and Year 6 pupils, you will play a vital role in helping children build confidence, accelerate progress and develop the knowledge and skills they need for a successful transition to secondary school.

In this rewarding role, you will spend the majority of your week delivering high-quality intervention programmes for Year 5 and Year 6 pupils, providing targeted support in English and mathematics through small-group and individual sessions. Working closely with class teachers, the SENDCo and senior leaders, you will use assessment information to identify learning gaps, plan bespoke intervention programmes and carefully monitor progress to ensure every child reaches their full potential.

You’ll play a key role in preparing pupils for the challenges of Upper Key Stage 2 and their transition to secondary education, building confidence, resilience and independence alongside academic success. Your ability to motivate, encourage and adapt learning to meet individual needs will make a genuine difference to children's educational journeys.

The successful candidate will:
  • Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
  • Have experience teaching within Key Stage 2, particularly Upper Key Stage 2.
  • Have a strong understanding of the Year 5 and Year 6 curriculum and end-of-Key Stage 2 assessment expectations.
  • Be passionate about raising attainment and helping pupils overcome barriers to learning.
  • Deliver engaging, targeted intervention sessions that accelerate progress and build confidence.
  • Adapt teaching effectively to meet a wide range of learning needs, including pupils with SEND and those requiring additional challenge.
  • Demonstrate excellent classroom practice and behaviour management.
  • Build positive relationships with pupils, parents, carers and colleagues.
  • Work collaboratively with class teachers, the SENDCo and senior leaders to ensure interventions are effective and responsive to pupil needs.
  • Be reflective, patient and committed to ensuring every child achieves their potential.
