Job summary

Teaching Personnel in Burnley is seeking a KS2 Intervention Teaching Assistant to work with pupils across Key Stage 2. You will deliver targeted small-group and one-to-one interventions to improve reading, writing, maths and phonics, supporting pupils to meet identified targets.

This full-time role runs 8:30am–3:30pm with a start date of 2nd November 2026 or ASAP. The school offers a welcoming environment, ongoing professional development, and a commitment to safeguarding.

Qualifications

  • Experience with primary-aged pupils, ideally KS2.

Responsibilities

Job description

Are you passionate about helping children reach their full potential? We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic KS2 Intervention Teaching Assistant to join our supportive school team.

This is a rewarding opportunity to work closely with pupils across Key Stage 2, delivering targeted interventions that help children overcome barriers to learning, improve attainment, and build confidence in core subjects.

Location: Burnley
Salary: £14.25 - £15.50 per hour

Contract: Full-time 8.30am – 3.30pm
Start Date: 2nd November 2026 or ASAP

The Role

As a KS2 Intervention Teaching Assistant, you will work alongside class teachers and SEND staff to provide structured support for pupils who require additional help in their learning. You will deliver small-group and one-to-one interventions, helping children make measurable progress in areas such as reading, writing, mathematics, and phonics.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver targeted interventions to KS2 pupils on a one-to-one and small-group basis.
  • Support pupils in achieving identified learning targets.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers to plan and implement intervention programmes.
  • Monitor pupil progress and maintain accurate records.
  • Adapt activities to meet individual learning needs.
  • Promote positive behaviour, engagement, and confidence in learning.
  • Support pupils with SEND, EAL, and those requiring additional academic support.
  • Contribute to creating an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
About You

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has experience working with primary-aged children, ideally within KS2.
  • Has a good understanding of the KS2 curriculum.
  • Can confidently support learning in English and Mathematics.
  • Is patient, encouraging, and committed to helping pupils succeed.
  • Has excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • Can build positive relationships with pupils, staff, and parents.
  • Works well independently and as part of a team.
  • Holds a relevant Teaching Assistant qualification (desirable but not essential).
