Job summary

Elexon is seeking an Information Exchange and Interoperability Engineer (Grade 12) to join the Market Design team in London. You will provide specialist technical expertise in communication protocols and interoperability to support the next generation of smart energy technologies.

As part of the SSES programme, you will help ensure EV chargers, smart heating systems and battery storage can communicate within evolving electricity markets.

Qualifications

• Expert knowledge of domestic and international information exchange standards.
• Experience with communication protocols and interoperability requirements.
• Ability to interpret complex technical information and communicate with stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Provide specialist technical expertise on communication protocols, information exchange standards and interoperability requirements for Energy Smart Appliances.
• Review and support development of technical and regulatory frameworks including the CLFCS.
• Review proposals and designs for alignment with standards and interoperability requirements.
• Support changes to technical specifications and new device standards and communication protocols.
• Provide technical support for interoperability testing and ensure smart energy technologies communicate effectively.
• Collaborate with internal teams, industry stakeholders and policymakers to provide technical advice and resolve complex queries.
• Support technical and strategic decisions with evidence-based recommendations.
• Identify risks and dependencies and propose practical solutions.
• Monitor UK, European and international standards developments to stay aligned with new technologies.
