Job summary

Routeco, part of the Sonepar Group, is seeking to strengthen its Internal Technical Sales team in the UK. You will provide knowledgeable support by phone, email and face to face, understand customer requirements and help with quotations and orders.

The role requires GCSEs in Maths and English, plus an ONC in electrical engineering (desirable); experience in electrical engineering, sales or customer support; strong communication and relationship-building skills; and proficiency with Microsoft

Responsibilities

• Provide knowledgeable support by phone, email and face to face, building trusted customer relationships and delivering excellent service.
• Understand customer requirements and recommend suitable, compatible and associated products and services.
• Prepare accurate quotations, process orders and keep customers informed about pricing, availability, discounts and delivery times.
• Investigate and source suitable alternative or non-franchise products when stock availability or lead times do not meet customer needs.
• Apply commercial awareness when negotiating prices to maximise sales opportunities and protect margins.

As part of our Internal Technical Sales team, you’ll deliver responsive, knowledgeable support—understanding customer requirements, recommending suitable products and solutions, and helping with enquiries, quotations and orders by phone, email and face to face.

You’ll work closely with External Sales and Internal colleagues, making sure every customer receives a smooth and professional experience.

What you’ll be doing

What do you need to bring to Routeco?

• GCSEs, or equivalent, in Maths and English; an ONC-level electrical engineering qualification would be desirable.
• Experience in electrical engineering, electrical distribution, sales, customer support or a similar environment.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills, with the confidence to gain customers’ and colleagues’ commitment.
• A methodical, accurate and solutions-focused approach, with strong problem-solving and continuous-improvement skills.
• Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office and data-entry systems, together with initiative and a desire to develop your career at Routeco.
