Job summary

Pets at Home is seeking an Internal Controls Business Partner on a 12-month fixed-term contract in Handforth, UK. The role sits in Profit Protection and offers hybrid working 2–3 days per week, with a salary of £55,000–£60,000 per annum.

The role reports to the Group Head of Profit Protection, Risk and Internal Controls and focuses on strengthening risk governance and controls across the Group. You will collaborate with Finance, Legal, IT, Retail and Support Office teams to embed robust controls

Qualifications

• Significant experience within Risk, Internal Controls, Audit or related governance function.
• Experience supporting or delivering risk and controls frameworks.
• Strong knowledge of financial controls and risk management principles.
• Excellent analytical, written and verbal communication skills.
• The ability to challenge constructively and influence stakeholders positively.
• A relevant audit, risk or financial qualification, or equivalent experience.
• ACA, ACCA, CIMA, IRM or similar professional qualifications desirable.

Responsibilities

• Support development and embedding of the enterprise risk management framework.
• Partner with stakeholders to identify risks and implement controls and mitigation plans.
• Design, implement and operate the Group’s internal controls framework in support of compliance.
• Review risk events, analyse root causes and drive improvements.
• Maintain and develop risk registers across the business.
• Support executive and Audit & Risk Committee reporting.
• Deliver training and build risk awareness across the organisation.
• Collaborate with Internal Audit, Legal, Finance, IT and operations to strengthen controls.
