Job summary

The NHS in London seeks an experienced internal communications professional to join the Communications and Engagement team. You will produce high-quality content for internal channels, including news stories, social posts, graphics, podcasts and videos, and support department campaigns.

You will advise content owners, manage publishing plans on LASConnect, monitor content, train staff where needed and help keep staff well informed about organisational developments.

Qualifications

• Educated to degree level in a communications related field or equivalent knowledge.
• Proven experience delivering internal and digital communications in a complex organisation.
• Experience with content management, publishing platforms, stakeholder engagement and internal campaigns.

Job description

This is an integral role within the internal communication team. You will work across all our internal channels, assisting in the production of a regular flow of high quality and compelling content, including news stories, internal social media posts, graphics, podcasts and videos.

Be part of the wider Communications and Engagement team, which is responsible for a range of activities, including internal communications, digital communications, staff recognition, brand and design, media relations, stakeholder engagement, education outreach, and LAS Charity fundraising. When required, you will also support with department wide campaigns.

Main duties of the job

Using digital expertise to advise and support content owners on publishing information on LASConnect, coordinating implementation plans to build our digital platform, monitoring and transferring essential content, liaising with content owners and providing training support where required.

Ensuring staff are well informed about developments within the organisation and that resilient two way lines of communication and maintained and improved.

Creating, writing, publishing and distributing key internal communications to key groups of staff.

Job responsibilities

• Provide communications advice to colleagues as appropriate within the Trust, helping them to understand the purpose of our channels and how best to reach their target audience, thinking creatively as required.
• In the event of a major incident, provide internal communications support as required to the Trust. This may involve attending Headquarters, local ambulance stations or scenes of incidents at short notice and preparing/maintaining specific internal communications plans and templates.
• Develop internal news releases, publications, using digital software, presentations using desk top software, intranet content management software packages, managing a photo library and departmental databases.
• Maintaining one or more information systems relating to the internal communications function such as the systems for deploying plasma screen content, content management systems for the Trust intranet and livestream broadcasting.
• Update the team editorial grid with planned content.
• Support the production and distribution of surveys and focus groups necessary to evaluation the work of the team, reviewing and contributing to ideas for improvement.
• Works within the internal communications department, manages own workload, and is required to act independently in relation to delegated work areas and specific projects.

Person Specification

Qualifications, Accreditations, Education

• Educated to degree level in a communications related field or, possessing an equivalent level of knowledge and expertise

Experience

• Proven experience of delivering effective internal and digital communications in a complex organisation including use of content management and publishing platforms, stakeholder engagement, event support and successfully delivering great content to support internal campaigns
• Experience and evidence of achieving results in line with strategic aims and objectives
• Proven experience of using insight and analytics to improve content delivery and campaign effectiveness
• Experience of crafting, curating and managing content, publishing to appropriate channels for audience groups, to ensure impactful internal digital engagement

Knowledge and Skills

• Understanding of media, PR / campaigns, digital, design ,media, staff recognition programmes and the close alignment with internal communications
• Experience of working with senior organisational leaders and developing relationships with a range of stakeholders, responding to queries and providing communications advice to deliver engaging content
• Demonstrable and up-to-date experience of working in a fast paced, communications function
