Job summary

GSK is seeking an experienced Communications Manager to partner with Finance, Legal & Compliance, Procurement, WREF and CGA. The role focuses on planning, execution and coaching for senior leaders, with responsibility for events and functional initiatives.

The ideal candidate will have strong stakeholder management, storytelling skills and experience in a matrixed, international organisation. This is a high-impact role within Internal Communications.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Significant internal engagement experience within the Communications function.
  • Experience in a highly matrixed, international organisation.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver comms plans for Finance, Legal and Compliance, Procurement, WREF and CGA that align to GSK priorities.
  • Lead deployment of company initiatives across the functions and support leaders.
  • Deliver event planning and Town Hall sessions; manage live events.
  • Support comms on company initiatives and coordinate with CGA colleagues.
  • Guide functional teams on appropriate communications and minimise noise.

This role is part of a team of three in Communication and Government Affairs (CGA) accountable for business partnering Global Finance, Legal & Compliance, Procurement, WREF and CGA. The team delivers expert communications advice, planning and execution, as well as personal communications advice and coaching for senior leaders. This role reports to the Head of Communications, Global Finance, Legal & Compliance. It’s a great opportunity for an experienced communications manager – operationally effective, proactive, articulate and practical - to deepen their business understanding and take accountability for impactful communications plans.

Purpose
  • Deliver comms plans for Finance, Legal and Compliance, Procurement, WREF and CGA that align to GSK’s priorities, including critical change, function to function and function to company initiatives
  • Lead deployment of company initiatives across the functions, with guidance and context to leaders
  • Deliver event planning and the smooth running of town halls, capability sessions and segmented Teams events
In this role you will

This is a role at the heart of delivering communications plans for a broad range of important GSK functions. The role holder will develop and deliver communications plans for operational, change and issues-based topics. The role will partner with expert CGA colleagues when needed. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Creating comms plans that are engaging, creative and impactful
  • Delivering organisational change comms plans to support senior leaders as necessary
  • Ensuring that global comms on company-wide topics (e.g. survey) are amplified appropriately within functions.
  • Helping to deliver support for live events such as Town Halls etc.
  • Supporting comms on company initiatives owned by the function, collaborating with CGA colleagues
  • Guiding functional teams on appropriate communications, including minimising ‘noise’ across the company
  • Supporting the Head of Communications, Global Finance, Legal & Compliance and the Director of Communications for Global Functions
  • Deputising for the Director of Communications for Global Functions at within Procurement and Wref when needed including by providing advice and comms support
  • Leading delivery of some functional initiatives or events in coordination with the Head of Communications, Global Finance, Legal & Compliance and the Director of Communications for Global Functions

  • The ability to use judgment in all situations, particularly when handling sensitive or confidential information
  • Experience of developing and delivering function to function and function to GSK communication plans
Basic Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant experience
  • Significant internal engagement experience within the Communications function
  • Experience in a highly matrixed, international organisation
Preferred Skills
  • Communications experience in the pharma industry
  • Event management / delivery
  • Experience of using AI / digital tools in the communications setting
