Team Vicar, Christ Our Hope - St Andrew Clubmoor

Full time stipendiary role, 3 year interim post

We are looking for a new Team Vicar, initially on a 3 year interim basis, who will join us on a journey of faith, fellowship and empowerment.Together we aim to cultivate a sense of belonging, support and love that uplifts each member to reach their full potential in Christ.

Are you an outward-looking and mission-focused priest, with a heart for planting and pioneering in some of our most deprived communities?Are you someone who will also enjoy and be energised by working in the newly established team ministry of Christ our Hope, working collaboratively with clergy and lay teams across a wider area?

You will be working with a Team Rector and 6 other team vicars as well as many other lay and ordained colleagues. Recently established central support services provide administrative, financial and buildings support across the whole team. Together the vision is to be growing Christ-centred communities that enable everyone to flourish.

Within this team, the Team Vicar will share with the Team Rector in the leading of St Andrew Clubmoor, with its long history of social action and charismatic evangelical worship. You will enjoy supporting existing lay leaders and raising up new ones. Funding has been identified to re-establish ministry to those in recovery, and you’ll take a lead in establishing that in your first year in post. Across the wider parish, you’ll lead on the Pioneering and Planting portfolio. You’ll be someone who is energised by identifying opportunities for new worshipping communities and enthusing and equipping teams. You’ll work well with the new Children and Youth Hub team in developing new worshipping communities in schools and elsewhere, and will take a lead on pioneering new ministry in the Dovecot area of the parish.

The Priorities:

• re-establishing ministry to people in recovery within the first year in post, with the funding already secured
• identify, nurture and develop lay leaders. Nurture existing Missional Community leaders and raise up new ones
• planning towards the 2029 St Andrews centenary celebrations
• develop the portfolio of new worshipping communities across the larger parish, working closely with the Youth and Children’s Hub
• pioneering and planting in Dovecot, where you’ll be living

1. Establish a culture of invitation in evangelism within the local church.
2. Start new worshipping communities and maintain existing healthy worshipping communities that are accessible to all.
3. Establish a culture in the local church of expecting a deepening of discipleship and putting into practice the 6 disciplines of the Rule of Life.
4. Develop prayerfully a strategy for mission and church growth and aligning it with the Diocesan strategy Fit for Mission.
5. Identify, train, release and support new Christian leaders and teams.
6. Encourage vocations by identifying the gifts of others and assisting people to seek God’s calling for their lives.
7. Develop the distinctive ministry of the local Church within the wider context of the Diocese, Deanery and local ecumenical setting by establishing and maintaining good collaborative working relationships with clergy and lay colleagues.
8. Lead your congregations both to pray for justice in the Church and the world and to recognize how, working with others, your congregations can work for more justice in the Church, your local communities, and the world.
9. Ensure that safeguarding, financial and other governance disciplines are followed.

Housing

The role will be held on Common Tenure terms. As such, the Team Vicar will be provided with housing free of rent, council tax and water charges, for the better performance of their duties.

The house for this post is Holy Spirit Vicarage, Dovecot Avenue, L14 7QJ. This is a modern detached property set back from the road with lawns and driveway, and with a private enclosed garden. There are 3 downstairs reception rooms, kitchen, utility room, WC, and upstairs 4 bedrooms and a bathroom.
