Job summary

Michael Page is seeking an Interim Senior Accountant for a manufacturing business based in Birmingham. The role oversees monthly management accounts, month-end close, balance sheet reconciliations and financial controls to support accurate reporting and compliance.

You'll partner with production teams, assist with budgeting, forecasting and cash flow management, and support audit preparations. Strong cost and manufacturing reporting knowledge, ERP experience and advanced Excel are essential.

Qualifications

• Fully qualified accountant with ACA/ACCA/CIMA or equivalent.
• Experience in industrial/manufacturing sector preferred.

• Prepare monthly management accounts, ensuring accuracy and timely delivery.
• Lead month-end and year-end close processes.
• Manage balance sheet reconciliations and maintain strong financial controls.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management activities.
• Analyse manufacturing costs, margins, stock movements, and operational performance.
• Partner with operational and production teams to provide financial insight and challenge.
• Assist with audit preparation and liaise with external auditors where required.
• Support process improvement initiatives across finance and wider business operations.
• Ensure compliance with statutory reporting requirements and internal policies.

Profile

• Experience in the industrial or manufacturing sector is desirable.
• Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
• Proven Senior Accountant, Financial Accountant, or Management Accountant role.
• Strong understanding of cost accounting, stock accounting, and manufacturing reporting.
• Advanced Excel skills and experience working with ERP systems.
• Ability to quickly understand business operations and identify opportunities for improvement.
• Strong analytical skills with excellent attention to detail.
• Confident communicator capable of working effectively with both finance and non-finance stakeholders.
• Comfortable operating in a fast-paced environment and managing competing priorities.

Job Offer

• Daily rate of £428 to £523, dependent on the level of experience.
