Job summary

St John Ambulance is seeking a Management Accountant to join the Financial Reporting Team. You will support the delivery of high-quality statutory and management accounting services, preparing and reviewing accruals, prepayments, income recognition and reconciliations.

You will work with the Lead Management Accountant and Finance Business Partners to prepare budgets and forecasts, providing clear financial commentary and insights.

Qualifications

• Strong accounting foundation with ACCA/ACA/CIMA or Level 4 AAT qualification or equivalent.
• Experience preparing, reviewing and explaining accounting transactions; UK GAAP knowledge.
• Skilled in complex reconciliations and investigating discrepancies.
• Experience preparing budgets and forecasts with stakeholder insight.
• Highly organised; proficient in Excel and SUN/Proactis.
• Clear communicator; builds effective internal/external relationships.

Responsibilities

• Post, reconcile accruals, prepayments and income to support monthly management accounts.
• Analyse financial and performance data; explain variances and advise budget holders.
• Support preparation of budgets and forecasts with Finance Business Partners.
• Build trusted relationships across Finance and the wider charity.
• Review processes; identify risks and implement efficient controls.
• Support year-end accounts and audits; promote knowledge-sharing and inclusion.
