Job summary

Farrer Barnes Ltd is seeking an experienced Management Accountant for a 6‑month interim assignment in England. This hands‑on role covers both management accounting and transactional finance, with responsibility for supporting growth and supervising one junior finance team member.

Working closely with senior management, you will prepare monthly management accounts, manage month‑end processes, payroll and ledgers, and help drive improvements in financial controls and forecasting.

Qualifications

• Qualified or part-qualified accountant with practical finance experience.
• Hands-on approach in a small business environment.
• Experience with payroll and transactional finance.

Responsibilities

• Prepare monthly management accounts and financial reporting.
• Manage month-end processes, reconciliations, journals and accruals.
• Oversee purchase and sales ledgers; maintain bank reconciliations.
• Run payroll processes and liaise with external payroll providers.
• Support cash flow forecasting and budgeting; assist with variance analysis.
• Supervise one junior member of staff and drive process improvements.
