Job summary

Farrer Barnes Ltd, based near Canterbury, is seeking an experienced Assistant Management Accountant for an initial six-month period with potential to go permanent. This hands-on role covers core transactional work and some management accounting, requiring ownership and the ability to hit the ground running.

You will manage sales and purchase ledgers, oversee payroll for ~30 staff, post journals, and prepare basic monthly management accounts, with month-end duties and bank reconciliations.

Qualifications

• Experienced Assistant Accountant or Management Accountant
• Strong transactional accounting background
• Confident across ledgers, payroll and month-end
• Experience using Sage Line 50 is highly desirable
• Manufacturing/SME experience advantageous

Responsibilities

• Manage and oversee the sales and purchase ledgers
• Process and oversee payroll for approximately 30 employees
• Prepare basic monthly management accounts
• Post journals and make accounting adjustments
• Bank reconciliations and other month-end activities
• Support the wider finance function as required
• Work with Sage Line 50
