Interim Head of Finance

London (with hybrid working)

The Organisation

Our client is dedicated to ending the harm caused by gender-based violence. They work with women and children, offering services that are tailored to the unique needs of survivors. Their approach is holistic and empowering, partnering with survivors to help them achieve independent, abuse-free lives.

They are now looking for an Interim Head of Finance to join them on a full-time basis for a six month, fixed term contract (with potential for extension), working 37.5 hours per week.

The Role

As the Interim Head of Finance, you will oversee all aspects of financial control, governance, and reporting across the organisation.

Specifically, you will work alongside the Director of Finance and Business Support to deliver timely, accurate and insightful reporting that supports strategic and operational decision-making.

You will line manage the Management Accountant and Senior Financial Officer, ensuring they adhere to sound financial practices and maintain suitable controls.

Taking the lead on ensuring financial compliance for contracts, grants and fundraising activity, you will act as a trusted adviser to colleagues across the organisation on finance-related matters.

Additionally, you will:

- Lead on annual budget setting and financial planning

- Support external audit and reporting processes

- Deliver effective financial reporting to Trustees and senior stakeholders

- Drive continuous improvement in finance systems and processes

About You

To be considered as the Interim Head of Finance, you will need:

- A recognised accounting qualification (e.g. ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)

- Experience of providing high-quality financial services in the not-for-profit sector

- A proven track record of financial leadership, ideally in a charity or similar organisation

- An in-depth understanding of delivering local authority contracts, grants and fundraising income

- Excellent strategic and operational finance skills, including planning, analysis, and reporting

- Strong people management and team development skills
