Job summary

Grafton Banks Finance are recruiting an Interim Financial Controller for a Manchester-based SME construction business. The role focuses on delivering high-quality management accounts, budgets, forecasts, and robust financial controls.

You will be ACCA/ACA/CIMA qualified with proven interim experience, ideally in construction. Strong Excel and accounting software skills are essential, and being locally based for on-site work 3-4 days a week is required.

Qualifications

• Qualified ACCA/ACA/CIMA with a verifiable interim track record.
• Experience in construction/engineering sector preferred.
• Strong technical accounting skills and control mindset.

Responsibilities

• Deliver accurate monthly management accounts and variance analysis for the board.
• Lead budgeting and forecasting processes; coordinate annual budget and rolling forecasts.
• Ensure compliance and tax obligations; supervise statutory filings and audits.
• Establish internal controls and risk management frameworks.
• Mentor and lead the day-to-day transaction processing team.
• Oversee cash flow forecasting and balance client receipts with subcontractor payments.
• Strengthen on-site procurement controls and financial controls.
