Job summary

Finatal is seeking an Interim Financial Controller for a 12-month maternity cover to join a private equity-backed software business. The role is remote with quarterly travel to Leicester, with a start ASAP. You will lead month-end close, strengthen controls, and drive finance transformation within a lean team.

Experience in software/SaaS, strong technical accounting, and a track record of automation are highly valued. Prior PE exposure is advantageous and immediate availability is preferred.

Qualifications

• Proven experience operating as a Financial Controller or in a similar senior finance role.
• Strong technical accounting and month-end reporting experience.
• Experience within a software, SaaS or technology-led business is highly desirable.
• A track record of improving finance processes, implementing automation and driving transformation.
• Comfortable working within a lean finance function and reporting directly to the CFO.
• Previous experience in a private equity-backed environment would be advantageous.
• Available to start at short notice.

The Opportunity

Finatal is partnering with an established, private equity-backed software business to appoint an Interim Financial Controller for a 12-month maternity cover.

The business generates £10m+ EBITDA and operates within specialist markets, including defence, policing and cyber security. Having evolved from a consultancy into a software-led business, it is now focused on further professionalising its finance function, enhancing reporting and driving operational efficiencies.

Reporting directly to the CFO, this is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Financial Controller to join a lean, high-performing finance team and play a key role in the next phase of the business’s development.
