Job description

Job Title: Interim Financial Controller

Stanton House is recruiting an experienced Interim Financial Controller for a PE-backed business in Bournemouth. This role is ideal for a hands-on finance professional with a strong technical background, capable of ensuring robust financial controls, accurate reporting, and contributing to strategic decision-making.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Oversee all day-to-day finance operations including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and banking.
2. Manage the month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.
3. Prepare and review management accounts, financial statements, and board packs.
4. Maintain and improve financial controls, policies, and procedures.
5. Lead the audit process and liaise with external auditors.
6. Support budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management.
7. Provide insightful financial analysis to support business performance and strategic planning.
8. Mentor and manage a small finance team, ensuring smooth workflow and development.
9. Contribute to systems and process improvements to increase efficiency and automation.
10. Support M&A, refinancing, or transformation projects as required.

Candidate Profile:

1. Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
2. Proven experience in a similar interim or contract Financial Controller role.
3. Strong technical accounting skills (IFRS/UK GAAP).
4. Comfortable working in fast-paced, changing environments.
5. Experience in private equity-backed or growth-stage businesses is advantageous.
6. Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
7. Hands-on, solutions-focused, and commercially aware.
